Communications Manager (gn) for CIVICA – The European University of Social Sciences
CIVICA, as a renowned alliance of ten leading European universities in the social sciences, is looking to hire a Communication Manager to join our team, based at the Hertie School in Berlin. This position is full-time (40 hours/week) and the employment contract will run until 30 September 2028. There is the possibility of renewal following a successful follow-up application for funding in 2028.
Your tasks:
- Coordinate, develop and implement communication and dissemination strategies that enhance the visibility and impact of CIVICA, in close collaboration with the communication teams as well as academic and admin staff of the ten partner institutions.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of CIVICA’s internal and external communications, including articles, newsletters, and annual reports.
- Lead the content creation for CIVICA’s digital platforms, ensuring engaging and up-to-date content that reflects the alliance’s activities and achievements.
- Supervise the communication team, providing guidance and leadership to ensure high-performance and development.
- Manage the budget for communications and ensure effective use of resources.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and activities, making data-driven adjustments as necessary.
Your profile:
- Master's degree in communications, marketing, business development, the social sciences or related field.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in managing communications, ideally in an academic or international environment.
- Proven ability to develop and implement successful communication strategies.
- Strong leadership skills, a first experience in managing a team is appreciated.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; German or additional European languages are a plus.
- High proficiency in digital communication tools and content management systems.
- Strong degree of autonomy and ability to work collaboratively with multiple units and stakeholders across diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in project management is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of European Union institutions and funding, with the ability to support the drafting of project proposals also desirable.
