We are looking for a

Faculty & Centre Assistant (gn)

part-time (25 hours per week), with the potential to expand the working hours as the role develops. The contract shall commence as of 1 August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter and is initally limited for 2 years, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work with Professor Marina Henke and a Centre senior fellow.

Your tasks:
  • Classical assistant activities such as travel planning and appointment coordination, as well as the organisation of events (meetings, conferences, colloquia etc.) through room bookings, organization of catering, invoices etc., contact management and general correspondence (mainly in English, occasionally in German);
  • Support to teaching, in particular in connection to teaching materials, announcements, room preparation, examinations and grades, correspondence with students and maintenance of e-learning platforms;
  • Support to research, for example support to the drafting of project proposals, editing, literature provision;
  • Editing of texts;
  • Translations on a small scale;
  • Administration and maintenance of internal databases including literature databases as well as the website of the faculty members;
  • Bookkeeping and budget monitoring;
  • Interface to administrative units (such as finance, third-party funding, personnel department, etc.).
Your profile:

  • Completion of a commercial apprenticeship (as a foreign language secretary or equivalent) or a bachelor’s degree;
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience;
  • Very good spoken and written knowledge of English (business fluent) and German (at least B2); additional foreign language skills advantageous;
  • Safe handling of MS-Office applications;
  • Experience in dealing with literature databases, literature searches and the usual literature and reference management software (for example e.g. EndNote, Citavi etc.) is desirable;
  • Experience in the handling of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Moodle) and Campus Management Systems as well as Typo 3 is desirable;
  • Organisational talent and ability to work independently;
  • Communication skills and distinctive team spirit.
