We are looking for a
Research Associate - Applied Economics (gn)
part-time (30 hours/week), to start in September 2025. The research associate will support Professor Ornaghi’s ongoing
work in the economics of media and in political economy as part of the research project “Policy Preferences and Identities,” CRC Transregio 190, funded by the DFG.
The position is best suited for students that have completed their pre-doctoral education and would like to pursue a competitive PhD in Economics after gaining more research experience. The position is for 30 hours per week, and provides sufficient time to further advance the applicant’s own research agenda and preparation for PhD programs. The candidate will be encouraged to attend research seminars in applied microeconomics and political economy. The position also provides support and mentorship to the associate toward a successful academic career. The position is for one year.
Your tasks:
- Undertake literature reviews
- Write research reports
- Implement data cleaning and analysis
- Perform text analysis
- Identity and obtain datasets
- Collaborate with the research team
Your profile:
- A completed Master's degree in economics, statistics, computer science, or related fields is expected by the starting date of the appointment.
- Good knowledge of either Stata, R, or other statistical software.
- Previous experience of other programming languages such as Python is a plus.
