Associate CIVICA Communications (gn)
Based at the Hertie School in Berlin, the CIVICA university alliance is seeking a Communications Associate (gn) to join its central communications team. In this role, you will help promote CIVICA’s activities and impact across Europe, working closely with colleagues from our 10 member universities. You will take the lead on social media content and channel management, while also contributing to wider campaigns and communication initiatives that bring CIVICA’s mission to life.
This position offers the chance to work in an international setting and collaborate with partners from leading universities across Europe. You will have creative freedom to shape communication campaigns and content. Above all, your work will contribute to a meaningful initiative that connects students, researchers and society through the social sciences. Please note, the contract runs until 30 September 2026, with the possibility of extension if CIVICA’s funding is renewed by the European Commission for an additional two years. Working time is 30 - 40 hours per week.
Your tasks:
- Social media & content: develop, schedule and publish content across CIVICA’s channels, monitor performance and promote engagement.
- Design & visual communication: create eye-catching visuals for digital and print purposes (social media posts, flyers, presentations etc.).
- Campaign support: contribute to Europe-wide communication campaigns, coordinating with partner universities and helping bring joint projects to life.
- Web & newsletters: draft, edit and publish content for CIVICA’s website and newsletters.
- Project support: assist with administrative processes including travel management and reporting linked to alliance activities.
Your profile:
Essential:
Experienced in social media management and content creation
Proficient with design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
A strong writer and editor in English, able to adapt style to different audiences
Organised and willing to contribute ideas
A completed university degree
Desirable:
Interested in the social sciences, higher education and European cooperation
Familiar with video editing
Experienced in project or campaign coordination and basic administration
