Postdoctoral Researcher - Finances of the European Union (gn)

We are looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher – Finances of the European Union (gn)
full-time (40 hours per week). The contracts shall commence as of 01 January 2025 and will be limited until 31 December 2028. The successful candidates will work with Professor Markus Jachtenfuchs.
The position is part of a Research Group on “Reconfiguring Europe. Between Competence and Control” which is funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and the Swiss National Science Foundation. It is located within the project on the finances of the EU. The project seeks to provide a theoretical explanation for competence-control tradeoffs in the EU’s finances, establish a comprehensive dataset of those finances and pursue case studies on critical junctures.
The position will be in the Jacques Delors Centre together with the other Hertie positions in the Research Group.
Your tasks:
- Work on a dataset of the EU’s finances
- Work on case studies of critical junctures in the EU’s finances
- Work on a theoretical explanation of competence-control tradeoffs in EU finances
- Joint and individual publications on the project’s topics
Your profile:
- Ph.D or equivalent in political science or a related discipline;
- Expertise in quantitative research and qualitative research;
- Interest in theory;
- Very good command of written and spoken English.
